PRATS BIO is our answer to a major industry challenge: decarbonizing production without sacrificing high precision. We are the first to create a sustainable lens line with the same visual excellence that defines PRATS and its brands.

More than a century manufacturing lenses has taught us that innovation and environmental responsibility must go hand in hand. At PRATS, every technological advance is designed with ecological awareness, and we strive to minimize the impact of our production process. Our commitment is clear: lenses of the highest quality, with minimal impact on the world we share.

Through robotization and automation we achieve direct energy savings by reducing high consumption during peak production periods.

We use recyclable materials, minimize the use of toxic substances, and extend the life cycle of lenses.

Renewable energy
PRATS shows a clear evolution toward a more sustainable energy model: while our Costa Rica facilities maintain 100% renewable consumption since 2022, in Spain we sustain 48% and Portugal rises from 19% to 24% in three years.
Refrigerant gases
We achieved a 93.84% reduction in consumption compared to three years ago. One of our greatest milestones in achieving PRATS environmental objectives.
Water
We make responsible use of water, periodically evaluating how we can improve. Thus, we have reduced consumption by 18.57% compared to the previous 3 years. The goal is for the percentage to grow over the next 3 years.
Climate change
Our fight against climate change involves reducing CO2 emissions. At PRATS, with similar production levels, we manage to emit fewer kg of CO2 into the atmosphere (-4.87% in two years). Integrating the optician’s order with our plants also reduces emissions per order by 30%.
PRATS BIO: COMMITMENT FULFILLED
PRATS BIO is our most environmentally friendly lens line. Thanks to our innovation in sustainable materials, we obtain BIO 1.6, a plant-based material that reduces CO2 emissions compared to other petroleum-derived materials.

Toward recyclable packaging
Lenses are delivered to the optician in a 100% recyclable transparent blister pack. Additionally, warranty cards are made from Bio PVC.
production labs
We work so that our production unit (pair of ophthalmic lenses) requires less energy and emits fewer emissions each time. That’s why we move from the classic “factory” concept to the sustainable “production lab” model.
